84 Musing: From a Spark to a Voice
How 84 Musing became more than a publication — it became a place to belong..
When people ask how 84 Musing started, I sometimes smile before answering.
Not because it’s a polished, well-rehearsed story, but because it wasn’t planned at all.
It started with a question.
A quiet, almost throwaway thought:
What if we could write in a way that felt human again?
Not SEO-driven.
Not algorithm-pleasing.
Not clickbait.
Just… real words, about real things, for real people.
The Spark
One afternoon, over a phone call, I shared this thought with Angeline Chandran.
I wasn’t pitching an idea. I wasn’t starting a business meeting.
It was just two people talking about how disconnected content had started to feel.
Instead of nodding politely and moving on, Angeline said, “Let’s do it.” Next person I knew i had to call was Sufi!
And just like that, 84 Musing was born.
Not on a whiteboard, not in a boardroom, but in that simple moment of shared belief.
Finding Our Voice
The first few posts were experiments.
We didn’t know if anyone would read them. We didn’t know if they would resonate.
Some days, I would be writing late at night, letting the words tumble out unfiltered. Sufi with his huge unmistakable writing skills wrote flawlessly and on other days, Angeline would take those raw thoughts and shape them — sharpening, refining, making sure each piece felt right.
We weren’t chasing perfection. We were chasing honesty.
And slowly, people began to find us.
Not in huge numbers at first — but enough to tell us something important:
Keep going.
More Than a Publication
As the weeks turned into months, our Substack became more than just a place to publish writing.
It became a space where ideas could breathe.
We explored topics that mattered to us — business, marketing, startups, life, change, identity, society — without worrying about what was trending that week.
And with every new subscriber, it felt less like we were sending words into the void, and more like we were inviting friends to pull up a chair.
Where We Are Now
Today, 84 Musing isn’t just my voice.
It’s mine, it’s Angeline’s, Sufi’s and in a way… it’s yours too.
Every time you read, every time you respond, you shape what we write next.
We’ve built a little corner of the internet where words matter more than metrics — and that’s something we’re proud of.
And the best part? We’re just getting started.
To everyone who has been with us from the beginning — thank you.
To those who’ve just discovered us — welcome.
And to those somewhere in between — the best is yet to come.
Here’s to the next chapter.
Let’s write it together.
